Gratitude for Amy

To Amy

The greatest gift I ever received was being your mama for nineteen beautiful years.

These twenty-one gifts are the treasures you left behind, wrapped in love and tied with the ribbon of your courageous faith.

May they bring comfort to broken hearts and strength to weary souls, just as you brought light to everyone you touched.

Your legacy dances on.

“Thanks for helping reveal the color in ordinary moments”

Five key facts about Amy:

She was born in 2002 and passed away on October 16, 2021, after a seven-month battle with severe aplastic anemia.

2.     Amy was a passionate elite dancer
She trained at One Maker Academy in Sydney, had traveled to the USA with her dance troupe, and was pursuing commercial dance as her career when diagnosed.

3.     Amy was an anxious child who became a confident young adult
She worked with a psychologist as a child to develop anxiety management strategies, and transformed from an inflexible, anxious introvert into a determined elite athlete who believed she could achieve her goals.

When hospitalization prevented her from touching others, she creatively adapted by using video impersonations, expressive looks, hand gestures, and meaningful connections through words and music.

5.     Amy wore red when she needed confidence
Her roommate revealed this detail after her death, which became significant for her mother, who now wears red underwear as a "secret superpower" to feel connected to Amy's strength and to silence her inner critic.

“So grateful you encouraged us to live fully through your actions”

The last time we were all together as a family. A holiday in Hawaii.

Memories are life jackets we don’t realise we are wearing until we need them most.
